About a TV Show — Legend of the Seeker
Has anyone else stumbled over the series called Legend of the Seeker, based on the work of Terry Goodkind? I’m hooked — well against the odds. First, I barely watch TV, and very little on a regular basis (this isn’t snobbery at work, just too much work, not enough time, which I plan to address in the new year). Second, the show comes on at 11:30 Saturday night. If I’m awake, I’m probably watching Saturday Night Live. If I’m awake.
So one sleepless night, when SNL was in re-runs, I caught a part of this show. I liked it. I set the DVR to catch the next episode (after searching all 900 channels to see which one it had aired on, because…I wasn’t paying attention, I just couldn’t sleep).
It took me almost a week to watch the episode (I almost deleted it unwatched twice, because the DVR was getting full). Sure, it’s cheesy with the handsome Seeker in forbidden love with the utterly gorgeous Mother Confessor who can turn men into her slaves with one penetrating stare (or kill them with her mad karate skills — in full sleeved robes, nonetheless) , and the Merlinesque wizard who guides them into and out of trouble every week. But I like the over the top quests (it is fantasy, after all), and the interesting solutions Richard Cypher, the Seeker, finds in his quest to bring peace to his land (which involves a lot of bloodshed, of course, because this is fantasy).
I especially liked that Season One ended with the solution of one problem…which led to a bigger problem for Season Two. Very Buffy-esque.
I’m especially pleased to discover that I can watch some episodes I missed on the website (DH helpfully deleted the “extra” recording…until we discovered that a show that goes from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 12:30 p.m. Sunday is listed for both days). I really want to find out how they got out of the painting….
Now, to find the time…
Kelly
